NOTE: We’ve been trying to update our road on Google Maps for years, with little success. The location is correct, but the road doesn’t show up. So if Maps gets confused, don’t worry, you’re not doing anything wrong. Just follow the directions below and you’ll reach us safely.


Finding your way to likir pottery

by air

We’re about 60 km from Leh Airport, which is well connected to New Delhi, with occasional flights from Chandigarh, Jammu, Mumbai, and Srinagar.


by taxi

Taxis from Leh to Likir are easy to find. Rates are standardised by the taxi union and cost approximately ₹2000, depending on the vehicle.


by bus (likir bus)

 A daily bus runs:

  • Leh → Likir: 3:30 PM

  • Likir → Leh: 7:30 AM

Timings may vary slightly between summer and winter, so it’s best to double-check with locals. The bus drops you near Likir Monastery.

Our home and studio are 500 metres below the monastery. Once you’re there, simply follow the signs and enjoy a 10-minute downhill walk to reach us.

Long-distance buses heading towards Alchi, Lamayuru, Dha, Skyurbuchan, or Kargil can drop you at the highway entrance to Likir. You can check their timings at the Leh New Bus Stand. From the highway, our home is about a one-hour walk, or you can easily hitchhike, which is quite common here.
